What's a Midwife?

After 3 weeks of waiting to hear from my Midwife I ended up having to travel to my nearest town to see one as nobody seemed able to find her. I'm now booked in ready for my scan in a couple of weeks and joy of joys by chance I also managed to get hold of my local Midwife whilst ringing the main offices to leave her another message. This is the only problem with living in a small village you don't get the luxuries of a Midwife clinic or having one available at your Doctors.

My morning sickness has been fluctuating from day to day, the worst with me spending time with my head at the ivory seat other days I get away with sucking a polo. I think this has put me off any more much to the relief of daddy moo hehe

Just keep eating

The only way I can seem to curb the sickness is to eat but my appetite has gone tiny so it makes it really hard to do I'm living on a diet of polo mints and tic tacs for the time being. I know ginger should help but i still can't face it after it making me ill when pregnant with baby moo so its mint for now.
Tiredness is also another side effect I forgot about and baby moo seems to know I would like an afternoon nap as she has stopped having them :-( I also keep having freaky dreams which keeps me awake in the night. I actually forgot how hard being pregnant was :-)

Its too hot

The heat has been awful for baby moo bringing back her heat rash so she has been crawling about in just a nappy in the house and a t-shirt in top when we've been out and about. She's been enjoying laying on the leather sofa as its really cool against her skin and its helped bring the rash down too. She has looked very cute at night in her shorties and a little t- shirt opting to not have her cover on and sleeping on top of it instead :-)
As for myself I'm so glad I'm in early pregnancy as I remember last year it being unbearable, heavily pregnant and not being able to stay cool. This time at least I don't have contend with a hot shop too.
Today we have been doing some gardening and getting baby moo to sort stones into a flower pot to keep her entertained, all the fresh air has made her very sleepy mind do FC she sleeps well tonight ;-)

Eeek

So not only is baby moo 14 months but im also 7 weeks pregnant!! I was lucky first time round and never really felt sick, this time however its really bad Im sure daddy moo will soon get bored of me moaning about feeling sick lol. There isn't much time to think about being pregnant when you have a crawler to chase around after, and as she still gets up in the night im usually tired anyway :-) Im still breastfeeding at the moment but waiting to see if she goes off it when my milk starts changing. A full nights sleep would be handy for a few months before this one arrives to keep me up again haha

Bob....

Well thanks to daddy moo, baby moo's favorite word is Bob as they watch Spongebob Squarepants every Sunday, no Mr Tumble in this house. After 5 episodes back to back however it is driving me mad, come back Peppa all is forgiven

Jabs

I've just booked baby moo in for her 13 month jabs Im taking daddy moo with me as I hate needles and hate seeing her upset I have medicine and chocolate at the ready and will give her boob too hopefully FC everything goes ok. I know some people take the decision to delay or not give vaccines at all but i'd be scared of her catching one of them. I have delayed it by a month but that's enough for me!

Carpark rant

Twice yesterday whilst out i was annoyed at people parking in mother and toddler, the first was in the first carpark i parked in a large people carrier pulled up and out got 6 adults - no children so i told the attendant who made the driver move :)
The second incident in a different carpark was a pregnant lady - no baby who got out of her car looked at me staring and said to me

"I know she's not here yet, but there's no where else to park"

She promptly walks off whilst i count 20 free bays just near me

I hope that when her baby arrives she realises how annoying it is when people take up valuable parking when they have no children, which is what I told the second parking attendant when i found him!

Mr Grey or Mr Dull

I've started reading 50 Shades of Grey and so far I'm a bit mheh. I don't know if its just because it's not my kind of book, I love horrors suspense and my favourite series to date is the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
I'm hoping it will captivate me by the end of this book as I've got all 3 to read! If not i think I'll read Harry Potter instead!
Edit 27/06/12
Finished reading the book and i think its like marmite personally i don't like marmite same went for the book - teaches me not to get drawn into a fad so easy mind, I'm sure if they do a movie it will be much more interesting ;-)

Baby teeth and biting

Following on from my blog on amber I discovered the best thing ever for moo to chew on and me to wear - yes wear! Its a necklace made of silicon from gumigem which is always on hand for moo to chew when her teeth are playing her up and they've recently brought out bangles and some funky coloured necklaces. The good thing is they don't look like a teether and can be sterilized

Amber for babies

So the powers that be aka crazy H&S that have no children said that all Amber necklaces and anklets were no longer allowed to be sold I had luckily brought mine when moo was about 4 months as a set otherwise i have no idea where i would be - they're a god send and work! Even myself and daddy moo own an Amber item. I really wasn't sure when i first heard about it but moo is so much better when she wears her necklace or anklet. The anklet is an adjustable one so i wear it when she's not and it means it will grow with her and she doesn't bother playing with it either. Maybe the people at H&S could for with wearing it themselves o_O

Year 1

Ok i admit it i was useless at keeping a blog but its hard work when your baby has more of a social life then you! The past year has flown by and its hard to think where its gone. I'm amazed by how much baby moo had changed so fast though not yet walking she counts to 5 and says no alot as well as being able to throw the best diva strops ever. We're still breastfeeding and using cloth nappies which I don't want to change. I do got the "when are you stopping the feeds" but you know what i'll stop when moo is ready :-) I'm glad i stayed at home with moo as i think i would have missed out on so much its sad that people can't always do it. Year 1 has been eventful and labor seems a distant memory which is a good job as we want no 2 lol

What I can remember from the first few months is not alot :-/

I wanted to start this blog when baby moo was born but it has gone so fast that she is now nealry 10 months!
When I came out of hospital, I made sure I only had vistors in the mornings, as I ensured I had an afternoon nap everyday, if anyone came when I was napping they wouldn't get a reply! Not only did it help me with my healing and milk supply, it meant I wasn't walking around like a zombie. I have so many friends who now say they wish they had napped in those first few weeks, or in my case few months lol :-) I didn't worry about the housework, and we had a few extra take-aways and it was worth it. I did try to go out in the first couple of weeks but honestly thought my womb was falling out, so I stayed at home and let others run around for me. I certainly didn't feel guilty either, and now I'm so glad I enjoyed every minute I could with baby moo as the time has gone so fast.
I've never read any books on parenting or listened to what others told me I should do either, I've just let my instincts help me decide what is best, and so far they're working for me. I still get up twice a night so mini moo can have a quick feed, then she just falls straight back to sleep, but I didn't have a baby to have a full nights sleep anymore lol :-)
Its amazing to think when I was younger I never wanted children and now I want 3!

Re-usable or Disosable???

I didn't start off using re-usables or as they are known in the trade "fluff" infact i had never heard of them, but after seeing a lady at a baby group using them I went home to do some research and haven't looked back. My local council offered a cash-back scheme so I did buy new to start, but brought pre-loved too. I also brought re-usables wipes, so I have no monthly buys of nappies and wipes, giving me more money to spend on my baby. My most reliable nappy is my BumGenius' they are easy to use and daddy friendly and have found so many mums also have them as their work-horse. I have joined many groups on Facebook and found so much help when it comes to choosing my nappies and how to wash, store and use them.
I have also ordered some very pretty nappies which you don't get with disposables, they look supercute with matching baby legs and dresses
I don't have anything against people using disposables, but for me it was a great choice, and it hasn't hindered baby moo's development in anyway, already at 9 months she will walk around the furniture
